Bihar CM Nitish Kumar claims Prashant Kishor had asked him to merge JD(U) with Congress

In a recent turn of events, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has claimed that political strategist Prashant Kishor had asked him to merge JD(U) with the Congress party. This comes as a shock to many, as Kishor is currently working with the BJP on their 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign.

Kumar made the claim during an interview with Indian Express, saying that Kishor had approached him in 2016 about the merger. He also said that Kishor had been pushing for the idea even after he joined the BJP. This news will likely cause a rift between Kishor and the BJP, as well as between Kumar and the JD(U). It remains to be seen how this will all play out in the coming months.

The current situation in Bihar is that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has claimed that political strategist Prashant Kishor had asked him to merge his Janata Dal (United) party with the Congress party. This claim was made in an interview with Hindustan Times, in which Kumar also said that he had rejected Kishor's request.

Kumar's comments come after Kishor publicly said that he did not agree with the JD(U)'s decision to ally with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar. In the interview, Kumar accused Kishor of trying to "destabilize" the state government and said that he would not tolerate such "misconduct."

The current ruling coalition in Bihar includes the JD(U), BJP, and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). The coalition has been in power since 2017 and has a majority in the state legislature.

Prashant Kishor is an Indian political strategist, who has worked on several high-profile campaigns, including Narendra Modi's successful bid for prime ministership in 2014. He is the founder of Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), a non-profit organisation that works to promote democracy and good governance in India.

Kishor rose to prominence in 2012 when he successfully managed Narendra Modi's campaign for the Chief Ministership of Gujarat. He was later roped in by Nitish Kumar to spearhead his election campaign in Bihar in 2015. Under Kishor's guidance, Kumar's party JD(U) won a record number of seats in the state elections.

However, relations between Kishor and Kumar soured after the latter decided to re-alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2017. Kishor publicly criticised Kumar for betraying the trust of the people of Bihar and aligning with the BJP, against whom he had fought tooth and nail in the state elections just two years ago.

Kumar hit back at Kishor, calling him a "traitor" and accusing him of working against the interests of JD(U). The two have not spoken since then.

Prashant Kishor, who is the vice president of JD(U), reportedly told Nitish Kumar that the party should merge with the Congress Party. He also said that if the party does not merge, then it will become irrelevant in Bihar politics. Kishor's comments come after Nitish Kumar's claim that the JD(U) will not merge with any other party.

The JD(U) has reacted to this claim by stating that they are not interested in merging with the Congress party. They have also accused Prashant Kishor of making false claims and attempting to damage the reputation of the party.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has claimed that political strategist Prashant Kishor had asked him to merge the Janata Dal (United) with the Congress party. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event in Patna, Kumar said that Kishor had made the proposal during a meeting between the two leaders last year.

Kumar's claim comes amid reports of growing tensions between the JD(U) and Kishor's Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), which is working for the party in the state.

Kumar's remarks are likely to further strain relations between the two leaders and could have implications for Bihar politics. If true, it would suggest that Kishor is not as loyal to Nitish Kumar as he is to the Congress party.

It is not clear what Nitish Kumar's motive is for making these claims public, but it could be an attempt to damage Kishor's reputation and undermine his position within the JD(U). Alternatively, it could be a way of distancing himself from Kishor ahead of the state assembly elections, which are due to be held later this year.

Whatever the reason, Nitish Kumar's comments are sure to add fuel to the fire of the already heated rivalry between himself and Prashant Kishor.
